Public Works

Public Works is comprised of the following departments: Animal Control, Building & Codes, Engineering/Planning, Highway, and Sewer.  The Commissioner of Public Works leads the department and is also designated as the Highway Superintendent, and Local Floodplain Administrator.

This Department is responsible for maintaining Perinton’s public infrastructure, including a diverse network of residential streets and rural roads as well as sidewalks, a sanitary sewer collection system, a storm sewer system (including stormwater management), and a geographic information system (GIS). Public Works is also responsible for the planning and execution of capital improvement projects that preserve our infrastructure and improve Perinton’s quality of life. It also ensures public safety in all buildings and grounds by reviewing building plans, issuing permits, inspecting work in accordance with local codes and the NYS Uniform Fire Prevention & Building Code.
