James E.Smith - Town Supervisor 


Jim, a life-long resident of Perinton, has served its government for over three decades. As Supervisor for the past 26 years, Jim has guided Perinton to a position of pre-eminence in Monroe County. Our outstanding Community and Aquatics Centers, Center Park, Center Stage Amphitheater and Perinton's renowned Open Space Preservation Program are among the many attributes added to our town under Jim's leadership. Best of all, they have been accomplished by saving ahead, not by costly bond issues or tax increases.

Patti Patricia S. Knapp, Town Council 


Currently Deputy Supervisor, Pat Knapp has been a member of Town Council since 1981 and was an elected Fairport Trustee from 1975 to 1981. She founded the Fairport Farmers' Market and established Village Days, the predecessor to Fairport Canal Days. A life-long resident, Pat has a strong interest in involving people with their community, developing good intergovernmental relations, and promoting Perinton.  Awards include NYS Senate Woman of Distinction 2002 and Perinton Chamber of Commerce 2006 Citizen of the Year.

Joseph H. LaFay, Town Council
Joe has served on the Town Council since 2004. A life-long resident of Perinton, Joe brings a unique perspective to the Town Council. He has lived through much of the growth of Perinton and appreciates the careful oversight and planning exercised by the town during that process. His legal training gives him a reasoned, careful approach to government that fits well with Perinton's history.

Peg S. Havens Town Council 
Peg's business background, over twenty years of corporate marketing positions with Frontier Communications and Time Warner Cable, along with her management skills, ideally qualify her to serve as an effective member of Perinton's Town Council.  A 20-year town resident and a past member of the Town's Board of Appeals, Peg is active in a number of community organizations including serving as a  Foodlink board member since 1995.

Stephen Van Vreede, Town Council
Stephen is a small business owner with corporate management experience at a Fortune 100 company.  He brings a wealth of financial and administrative knowledge along with a commitment to measured, well-planned governance, to his role as a Town Councilperson. He previously served on the Perinton Recreation and Parks Advisory Board where he helped shape and expand the strategic vision of the recreation programs and park amenities provided by the Town.

Jennifer A. West, Town Clerk
Jennifer A. West, Town Clerk Jen West was appointed Town Clerk in January of 2009.  Jen has an extensive corporate background and held management positions with Eastman Kodak for over twenty years prior to joining the Town.  Jen is a native western New Yorker and a graduate of Bowling Green State University with a BS in Business Administration.  She previously served the town as a Deputy Town Clerk.  A twenty-three-year resident of Perinton, Jen is active in a number of community organizations.

  Thomas A. Klonick, Esq. Town Justice
Serving as a Perinton Town Justice since 1995, Tom Klonick has earned the respect and admiration of his colleagues for exercising fairness and compassion in each case which has come before his bench. His judicial experience has also earned him an appointment as an acting Rochester City Court Judge.

Michael H. Arnold, Esq. Town Justice
As a practicing attorney for over 20 years, and as a Perinton Town Justice since 2000, Mike Arnold has been recognized for his patience, common sense, and knowledge of the law. Through his experience as an attorney in the Family Court system, Mike brings a unique sensitivity and concern regarding the needs of the young people and families appearing before the Perinton Town Court.
