2010 Reassessment Information

The New York State Office of Real Property Services reviews the sale prices of homes in Perinton each year and compares them to the assessed values. For 2010, they have determined that the ratio of these assessments to sale prices has fallen below the acceptable range.  Therefore, a review of all residential parcels was required and was recently completed by the Assessment Office. As a result, many assessed values have been adjusted this year to reflect their current market values.  Please note: Per NYS Real Property Tax Law, this assessment value for 2010 is based upon a valuation date of July 1, 2009.

Contrary to market activity across much of the nation during the past two years, Monroe County did not experience dramatic decreases (or increases) in home values.  Even though the local Monroe County market has experienced a drop in the number of homes offered for sale, the price being paid for housing has continued to increase moderately since the 2008 assessment update.  Market activity in the Town of Perinton has remained steady over the past several years.

If you are satisfied with your tentative assessment, you do not need to take any further action.

However, if you disagree with your assessment, please follow this link "2010 Board of Assessment Review Information" for instructions on scheduling and preparing for a Board of Assessment Review hearing.  Owners may submit recent sale or listing information on their homes, a recent appraisal, photographs of the interior/exterior or any other relevant facts regarding the property.  There is also a link "Property Owner Assessment Review Worksheet" to a review worksheet which may be used to assist property owners with selecting comparable sale properties for their homes.
