Perinton Recreation and Parks/Lions Den Teen Center Fall Programs 2014

Fairport-Perinton Teens Only

Saturday Activity Night Program  6-9 pm  Grades 6-9  Code #535503-A  Fee: $20 Per School Year  The Teen Center is open on Saturday evenings for teens to enjoy PS4, Nintendo Wii, pool, air hockey, foosball, watching movies and doing fun activities with their friends. Weekly themes are offered. A one-time registration and $20 fee per school year is required to attend this program.

Detours After School Program  2:45-6 pm  Grades 6-8  Code # 425536-A  Fee: $400 Fall Semester (One installment)/Code # 425537-A  Fee: $440 (Payable in monthly installments of $110)  As a working parent, you may not be able to be home when your child gets out of school. If you want supervision for your child during this time, then Detours is the perfect solution. The Perinton Recreation and Parks Department provides adult supervision in a safe and caring environment that is fun and affordable. Healthy snacks, outdoor games, walking field trips, projects and more are provided. Parents must set up bus transportation through the Fairport Transportation Office. An information packet will be mailed to you as soon as we process your registration. Detours is just what working parents have been looking for. PLEASE NOTE: The Detours program will close at 5 pm on Friday, October 24 due to the annual Halloween Parade which ends at Potter Park.

Sat, 9/20  Homecoming Parade  8:30-10 am  Grades 6-10  Code #436101-E  Fee: N/C The Teen Center will be building a float during its Detours After School and Saturday Activity Night programs to enter in the Homecoming Parade. If you are interested in marching with us, pre-registration is required. Detailed information will be mailed to participant's home including a mandatory permission slip.

Fri, 10/3 Pool and Pizza Party  6:30-8:30 pm  Grades 6-9  Code #436101-D  Fee: $8 Meet up with friends for an evening of swimming fun at the Perinton Aquatic Center. The floating iceberg and pool basketball will be set up. Pizza will be served after swimming. Please pick up your child from Room 208B promptly at 8:30 pm. Don't forget your suit and towel.

Teen Center October Coat Drive  10/6-10/31  Teen Center and Perinton Community Center Drop Boxes  Do you have an extra coat in your closet? The Teen Center will be collecting clean, gently used coats. Please bring coats, as well as new mittens, hats and scarves in children and adult sizes to the drop box at the Teen Center or the Perinton Community Center between October 6-31. They will make a big difference for the people who really need them. Please contact Julie Eble at lionsdentc@gmail.com with questions.

Mon, 10/13  Play Candy Bar Bingo Party with the Senior Citizens at the Northfield  2:45-4 pm  Grades 6-12 Code #436101-L  Fee: N/C  Enjoy an afternoon of candy bar bingo at the Northfield Enriched Living Facility, 4560 Nine Mile Point Road, Fairport. We will make ice cream sundaes, and then play several rounds of bingo with the Senior Citizen residents. Meet at the Northfield at 2:45 pm. Hope to see you there!

Fri, 10/17 & 11/21  Unplugged at the Teen Center  7-9 pm  Grades 9-12  Code #535503-B Fee: N/C  This is an open mic program for Fairport/Perinton teens to showcase their musical talent. Teens interested in performing should contact Julie Eble at lionsdentc@gmail.com  to be scheduled. A one-time registration per school year is required for students either to perform or to attend all events. Bands must provide their own equipment and can start setting up at 6:30 pm.

Sat, 10/18  Perinton Community Garden Teen Volunteers Clean Up Day  8:30 – 11 am Grades 6-12  Code #436101-P  Fee: N/C  With the assistance of the Parks Department, and other volunteer groups, teens will help pull plants, turn compost, spread mulch, plant winter crops, plant spring flowering bulbs, and do an overall clean up of the Perinton Community Garden. In case of inclement weather on the morning of October 18, call the Perinton Recreation and Parks Program Info Line at 425-1170.

Tues, 11/11  Foodlink Volunteer Opportunity 8:50-11:50 am  Grades 6-12  Code #436101-K Fee: N/C  Enroll all that will be attending  Every year, more than 5000 people volunteer their time at Foodlink to help provide support for low-income families. Would you like to give a few hours to help? A brief orientation is offered prior to the session. Meet at Foodlink, 1999 Mt Read Blvd. promptly at 8:50 am. Directions are available on the website at www.foodlinkny.org and will be mailed to all registrants. Long pants and closed shoes are mandatory. Parents are welcome to attend. Pre-registration is required for both student and parent volunteers. Food donations are appreciated.
